Yes—installing a shallow irrigation well on your property is generally allowed in the Corpus Christi area, but it must comply with local regulations and may require registration depending on use and location. In many cases, wells must be registered through the City of Corpus Christi to ensure proper documentation and compliance with local water guidelines.

Follow these steps to complete your registration:

Call 811 Before You Dig: State law requires contacting the Texas One-Call Center (Texas811) to perform a utility locate before digging to avoid pipelines or public utilities.

Download the Application: Go to the CCASRCD Exempt Well Application and fill out the form completely.

Include a Site Map: Attach a clear map, drawing, or precise driving directions to locate the well site on your property.

Submit Your Documents: Email your completed form and map to CCASRCD@cctexas.com.

Once registered, the City will issue you a certificate, which you must visibly post near the well site for code enforcement inspections

Our process is straightforward and designed to get you from start to finish with minimal disruption. We begin by assessing your property and identifying the best location based on soil conditions, electrical access, water access and any previous irrigation systems. From there, we install the well point, set up the pump system, and connect everything for proper operation. Once installed, we flush and test the system to ensure everything is working correctly before we leave your property.

A shallow well is a water source that draws groundwater from near the surface, typically used for irrigation and outdoor watering. These systems are especially effective in coastal areas like North Padre Island, where sandy soil allows easier access to usable groundwater. Unlike deep municipal wells, shallow wells are designed for property-level use such as filling up pools, lawn care, landscaping, and general irrigation needs.

North Padre Wells proudly serves North Padre Island, Port Aransas, and surrounding areas of Corpus Christi. We focus on coastal properties where soil conditions and water access make shallow well systems a practical and efficient solution for irrigation needs.

Shallow wells are commonly used for lawn irrigation, garden watering, landscaping maintenance, pools, and commercial property upkeep. They are a great solution for coastal homes, beach properties, and businesses that want a reliable water source without relying solely on municipal water for outdoor use.

Once properly installed, shallow well systems are generally low maintenance and built for long-term use. Occasional pump priming or basic inspection may be needed depending on usage, but the system is designed for dependable performance when installed correctly and matched to the site conditions.
